In 1986, at the invitation of the Cornwall Methodist District, a young, enthusiast (and sometimes a little crazy!) American Methodist Minister, Steve Emery, accepted the invite of a three year post as the Methodist Minister here at St Agnes.
He arrived in 1987. During those three years Steven's passion for his faith shone through in his preaching, his teaching, his pastoral care and, in particular, his love of Youth Ministry. He captured the hearts of both old and young alike.
When he returned to America after his three years, he did not travel alone - he had met a local lady whilst preaching at Mount Hawke Chapel. Lorraine and Steven married in 1988 and had a baby daughter, Hannah, in 1990. We were truly blessed, as a Church, to have had them with us.
Steven's ministry, both as a Methodist Minister and a University lecturer, continued in America, New Zealand, Singapore and South Korea, Cliff College, Launceston and Tavistock. He recently retired to Cornwall.
St Agnes holds a very special place in Steven's heart and we are delighted that he has accepted the invite to preach at our Chapel Anniversary service on 19th July. We hope that you will be able to join us. All Welcome!
