Following in the footsteps of sadly discontinued The Bolster, its aim is to serve the community with updates from around the parish.

Tracy, our newly elected President, led her first meeting in June. At this meeting we were able to give our second donation to our chosen local charity – St Agnes Parishwide Defibrillator Network. This is part of a national WI campaign ‘By Standers Can Be Lifesavers’ which our members have really taken to heart. Paul Kimberley (well known in the village for his fundraising for this great cause) came to receive the cheque and told us that defibrillators in our parish have already saved lives. Fantastic news!

As part of our fundraising for this excellent charity we are holding a coffee morning in the WI square on Saturday 15 th August – 10 am until noon. (If wet inside the WI hall). Why not come along and snap up some deliciously scrumptious home made cakes?

We have also had a very interesting talk from Tim Guy from Age UK Cornwall and The Isles of Scilly. He told us what this organisation does in our county through its 3 hubs. He reassured us that we don’t have to feel positively ancient to use their services. We were given a really important phone number to access their services – 01872 266383. There is so much they could help with including community transport minibuses, individual transport to hospital appointments, gardening services, meeting hubs, home living support, living well classes, information services and so much more. It was a real eye-opener!
Our next meeting is Tuesday 21 st July where we will be hearing from the RSPCA Cornwall Branch. Look out for the posters on the village notice boards.

St Agnes Women’s Institute meet on the third Tuesday in the month 7.15 – 9.15 pm. New members are always welcome.
